Marencia for boat rentals, in short
- In one sentence
- Marencia is boat rental management software for small fleets that keeps hourly and daily rentals, availability, down payments and security deposits in one backoffice — without a booking commission.
- What it covers
- Hourly, daily or both, per boat, with price tiers
- One booking calendar for all boats, with no double bookings
- Down payment, balance and security deposit on every booking
- Card payments through your own Stripe account
- A booking detail page for each rental, plus branded emails in six languages
- An online booking page for your customers (Core)
- Best for
- Small fleets that rent by the hour or by the day, also alongside tours and skippered charters. Less suited to several locations, or if you need waivers and inspections in the same system.
- Cost
- Starter €49 a month with 2 boats, Core €99 with 4 boats and online booking, plus €8 for each additional boat. No Marencia booking commission, no minimum term.
Rentals are short. The admin around them is not.
- Requests come in everywhere Phone, WhatsApp, email and walk-ups — and every one of them needs an answer about the same few boats. How WhatsApp bookings work in Marencia
- Is the boat free at 10:00? With a paper calendar or a shared spreadsheet, checking a two-hour slot means asking whoever wrote the last entry.
- Who has paid what? Down payment received, balance due on arrival, deposit taken in cash — scattered across messages and bank statements.
- The deposit after the trip Returned in full, partly kept for a damaged fender, or never taken? Nobody remembers by Sunday evening.
Why a regular booking calendar isn’t enough for boat rentals
A meeting room only needs a free time slot. A boat rental needs the right boat, a rental time that fits it, room for the turnaround and a clear payment status — and all of it has to hold when a charter or a scheduled tour uses the same boat. That is the difference between a calendar and boat rental management software.
- Each boat has its own rules Hours, days or both, price tiers with a minimum duration, a passenger limit and whether a skipper is required. A generic calendar only knows time slots.
- The boat needs time between rentals The turnaround time counts in every availability check, so the next rental cannot start while the boat is still being made ready.
- One boat, several kinds of bookings A two-hour rental, a multi-day charter and a scheduled tour are checked against each other. Requests may overlap, but only one booking at a time can hold the boat.
- The money belongs to the booking Down payment, balance and security deposit sit on the booking itself, next to the boat and the time — not in a separate spreadsheet.
A two-hour rental on Saturday morning
Here is how one booking moves through Marencia — from the request on Thursday evening to the boat coming back on Saturday.
- Thursday, 21:10
The customer sends a requestCore
On your booking page they choose Hourly, Saturday 10:00–12:00, four people and your center console, and send the request. It lands in your backoffice as an open booking with every detail filled in.
- Friday, 08:30
You take the request on — Marencia checks the boat
When you move the request from Open to Pending, it becomes binding and Marencia checks the boat against every other binding rental, charter and scheduled tour on it, turnaround time included. If one is in the way, Marencia blocks the status change and shows you that booking, with its number, status and time.
- Friday, 08:32
Down payment due, balance on arrival
You set a percentage down payment and the balance due on arrival. The customer gets a confirmation email with a link to their booking detail page, pays the down payment by card through your Stripe account, and the payment status updates by itself.
- Saturday, 09:45
At the dock
Your team opens the booking on a phone: guests, what is still due and whether a security deposit is required. The balance paid on site and the deposit collected are recorded on the booking.
- Saturday, 12:10
The boat is back
You return the deposit — or keep part of it with a note on why — and mark the rental as executed. The next rental can start once the turnaround time has passed.
Rent by the hour, by the day or both — per boat.
A jet boat goes out for two hours, a cabin cruiser for the weekend. In Marencia each boat has its own time type: hours, days or both, with price tiers that carry a minimum duration.
Whether a boat goes out self-drive or with a skipper is a setting too: a skipper can be required, optional or not offered. Season, operating days, the earliest and latest departure and how far ahead customers may book are set once for your whole operation.
- Hourly, daily or both, per boat
- Price tiers with a minimum rental duration
- Self-drive or with a skipper
- Turnaround time between two rentals, counted in every availability check
- Take a boat offline while it is out of service
Let customers book online — with or without your own website.
Your customers see your boats on a booking page under your brand, choose hourly, multi-day or flexible dates and the number of people, and send their request. It lands in your backoffice as a booking, with every detail already filled in.
Core also includes direct booking with online payment: customers book and pay in one step, while you manage incoming bookings in your backoffice.
You do not need a booking system on your own website. The booking page is hosted by Marencia and has its own link: put it behind a booking button on your website, or share it on WhatsApp, Instagram or your Google Business Profile. Customers can use it on a phone as well as on a computer.
- Hourly, multi-day and flexible date selection
- Your boats with photos, features and passenger limits
- Every request becomes a booking you can confirm
Boat rental scheduling without double bookings.
Boat occupancy shows all your boats side by side, hour by hour. A two-hour morning rental, an all-day charter and a scheduled tour sit in the same view, so you can see whether 10:00 is free before you say yes on the phone.
No double bookings: two requests for the same slot can both come in, but only one of them can become binding. A booking blocks the boat from the moment you move it on from Open — if it would overlap another binding booking or a scheduled tour, turnaround time included, Marencia blocks the status change and shows you which booking is in the way.
Switch between day, week and agenda view to plan the busy weekends ahead.
- One booking calendar for all boats, in day, week and agenda view
- Rentals, charters and scheduled tours in one place
- No double bookings — a boat cannot be booked twice for the same time
Down payment, balance and security deposit on every booking.
Ask for nothing upfront, the full amount, a percentage or a fixed down payment, and set when the rest is due: at booking, before the rental or on arrival. Marencia calculates the remaining balance and keeps the due dates in view.
The security deposit is tracked separately: required or not, collected, returned or withheld — with the amount, the method and a note on why part of it was kept. Card payments go straight to your own Stripe account; cash, bank transfers and payments on site are recorded on the booking.
- Four down payment types with due dates
- Security deposit: collected, returned or withheld with a reason
- Card payments through your own Stripe account
- Payment status separate from booking status
One link with everything your renter needs.
Every booking has its own page for the customer: boat, date and departure time, the meeting point with a link to Google Maps, guests, payment status and the security deposit. Customers pay online there or see your bank details.
Confirmation, change and cancellation emails go out automatically, with your logo and colors, in the language you choose for your business — six are available.
- Booking detail page for each rental, with meeting point and map link
- Online payment on the booking detail page
- Branded emails in six languages
What Marencia does not do yet
Some rental software covers the whole dock. Marencia focuses on bookings, availability and payments. These are not part of it today:
- Digital waivers and rental agreements
- Pre- and post-trip inspection checklists
- Maintenance logs per boat
- Rental add-ons such as water toys or fuel
- SMS messages
- Invoices and accounting integrations
- Several rental locations in one account
- A native mobile app — the backoffice runs in the phone’s browser
If one of these is a must-have for you today, tell us in the demo. We would rather say so upfront than sell you the wrong system.
A fixed monthly price. No cut of your rentals.
Marencia charges a subscription based on the number of boats, not a percentage of each booking. A busy weekend costs you the same as a quiet one. Your payment provider’s fees still apply, and you see them in your own Stripe account.
Some boat rental systems add a percentage of every booking on top of their monthly fee, so the software gets more expensive the better your season goes. Marencia keeps that percentage at zero in every plan: you pay for your boats, not for your sales.
Compare the cost with the software you use today
For the months outside your season, Seasonal Hold keeps your account and data for 30% of your monthly price.
Plans from €49 per month
A good fit if you
- Rent out a small fleet by the hour or by the day
- Take bookings by phone, WhatsApp and email today
- Want direct bookings through your own booking page, not only through marketplaces
- Run tours or skippered charters alongside your rentals
- Need a clear backoffice rather than a dock-management suite
Probably not the right fit if you
- Run several rental locations under one roof
- Need waivers, inspections and maintenance tracking in the same system
- Rely on accounting integrations or a point-of-sale at the dock
Questions about boat rental software
What is boat rental software?
Boat rental software keeps the bookings, availability and payments of a rental business in one place. Instead of a paper calendar, a spreadsheet and a stack of messages, you see which boat is out when, who has booked it and what has been paid. Marencia adds an online booking page for your customers and emails them when a booking is confirmed, changed or cancelled.
Can I rent boats by the hour, by the day or for several days?
Yes. Each boat has its own time type — hours, days or both — and price tiers with a minimum duration. A small boat can go out for two hours while a larger one is only rented for full days. Multi-day rentals over a weekend or a whole week work the same way.
Can customers book online?
Yes, with the Core plan. Customers choose hourly, multi-day or flexible dates on your booking page and send a request, which arrives in your backoffice as a booking. Core also includes direct booking with online payment, where the customer books and pays in one step.
Does Marencia stop double bookings?
Yes. A boat cannot be booked twice for the same time, and the turnaround time between two rentals counts too. Open requests may overlap, so you never lose an inquiry. As soon as you move a request on from Open, it becomes binding and blocks the boat — if it clashes with another binding booking or a scheduled tour, Marencia blocks the status change and shows you the booking in the way, with its number, status and time. You then change the time or the other booking.
How do down payments and security deposits work?
For each booking you set a down payment — none, the full amount, a percentage or a fixed sum — and when the balance is due. The security deposit is tracked on its own: collected, returned or withheld, with the amount, the method and a note. Deposits are recorded by your team; they are not held on the customer’s card automatically.
Which payment methods can I use?
Customers can pay by card on their booking detail page through your own Stripe account, and see your bank details for a transfer. Cash and payments on site are recorded on the booking by your team, so every balance stays up to date.
Does Marencia take a commission or a booking fee?
No. You pay a fixed monthly subscription based on your number of boats, with no Marencia booking commission in any plan — and no booking fee of a few percent on top, as some rental software charges. Your payment provider charges its own processing fees, as with any card payment.
Does Marencia handle waivers and inspections?
Not today. Marencia does not include digital waivers, inspection checklists or maintenance logs. If you need them, you keep your current tool for that part and use Marencia for bookings, availability and payments.
Is there a mobile app?
There is no app to install. The backoffice works in the browser on a phone, with its own mobile navigation, so the team at the dock can look up and update bookings.
How much does boat rental software cost?
Marencia has a fixed monthly price based on the size of your fleet. Starter is €49 a month with 2 boats included, Core €99 with 4 boats, and each additional boat costs €8. Online booking for your customers is part of Core. There is no Marencia booking commission in any plan; your payment provider charges its own fees.
Do I need a website to take online boat bookings?
No. Your booking page is hosted by Marencia and has its own link, so you can share it on WhatsApp, Instagram or your Google Business Profile. If you have a website, link to it from a booking button. Customers can open it on a phone or a computer. The booking page is part of the Core plan.
Can customers cancel or change a booking themselves?
Not yet. Customers see everything about their rental on their booking detail page, but changes and cancellations go through your team: you change or cancel the booking in the backoffice, Marencia emails the customer, and you record the refund, which you make yourself — for example in your Stripe account.
Do you help with the setup?
Yes. It starts with a demo, and we create your account for you. You then add your boats, rental times, availability rules and down payments, with our support whenever you need it. Core includes a personal 1:1 onboarding session.
Is there a minimum term or a long-term contract?
No. You pay monthly, there is no minimum term, and you can cancel at any time. Your data stays accessible until the end of the billing period. If you take no new bookings through Marencia in the off-season, Seasonal Hold keeps your account and data for 30% of your regular monthly price instead.
