Down payments, balances and security deposits, clear in every booking.
Decide how much is due and when, let customers pay by card into your own Stripe account, and keep the security deposit apart from the price. Your team sees at a glance what is paid, what is still open and what goes back after the trip.
Card, bank transfer, cash or on site: every payment is tracked in the same booking.
The money for a trip should not live in a bank app, a notebook and a chat.
A customer says they transferred the down payment. Someone checks online banking, someone else scrolls back through WhatsApp, and the remaining balance sits in a spreadsheet nobody updated. On the day of the trip, the skipper still does not know whether the security deposit was taken.
Two kinds of money get mixed up. A down payment counts towards the price. A security deposit goes back to the customer after the trip, minus any damage. Marencia keeps them apart in every booking.
Set the down payment once, adjust it per booking.
Set the down payment that applies to a booking: none, the full amount up front, a percentage of the total or a fixed amount. Marencia calculates the down payment and the remaining balance from the booking total.
In the settings, you decide whether a down payment is possible or required, and whether a percentage or a fixed amount applies by default. Every new booking starts with these defaults, and your team can change them for a single booking when different terms apply.
- No down payment everything is due later
- Full amount 100 % up front
- Percentage e.g. 30 % of the total
- Fixed amount e.g. €200, whatever the price
Each booking records whether the down payment is paid, when, and by which date it is due.
Decide when the rest is due, and how it can be paid.
The rest of the price can be due on booking, before the tour by a set date, or on arrival at the meeting point. Payment methods are cash, credit card, bank transfer or on site (cash or card at the meeting point), and you decide in the settings which ones you accept.
Marencia calculates the remaining balance from the booking total and the down payment and keeps the due date with it, so "how much is still open, and by when?" is always answered in the booking.
- Due on booking, before the tour or on arrival
- Cash, credit card, bank transfer or on site
- Payment status: open, pending, fully paid, no payment required or refund
- Credit card
- Bank transfer
- Cash
- On site
See which payments need attention before departure.
The payment overview collects the open payments of all bookings in one list, sorted by due date. Nobody has to open bookings one by one to find out who still owes what. "Today" always means today in your own time zone.
From that list, or from the booking itself, your team sends a payment request email with one click. Marencia does not chase customers on its own: you decide who gets a request, and when.
Amounts are only visible to the owner and admins. Staff see which bookings need attention, not the figures.
- Half-day fishing · M. Costa Due today €425
- Sunset catamaran · J. Miller Before tour · 7 Aug €868
- Day charter · L. Bianchi On arrival · 12 Aug €1,050
A security deposit that is not confused with the price.
The security deposit is its own record in the booking, separate from the down payment. Note the amount and how it was collected, for example in cash, by bank transfer or by card outside Marencia, and follow it through the trip: collected before departure, returned afterwards, or withheld in full or in part, with the reason written down.
When a booking requires a security deposit, as is common for self-drive boat rentals, your customer sees it on their booking page, so the conversation at the pier is short. Marencia records the status of the security deposit; it does not charge or hold security deposits through Stripe.
- Not collected Required for this booking, not received yet
- Collected Received, with date and method
- Returned Paid back in full after the trip
- Withheld Kept in full or in part, with a note why
Default for every booking: no security deposit required.
Customers pay by card. The money goes straight to you.
Every booking has its own booking page, linked from your emails. Once a booking is set to card payment and has an amount open, the customer sees a "Pay now" button there and pays on a secure checkout page hosted by Stripe. Customers paying by bank transfer can open your bank details on the same page.
Payments go to your own Stripe account. Marencia is never the recipient of the money, never sees card details and takes no commission on bookings. Stripe charges its usual fees to your account, as with any card payment.
When Stripe confirms the payment, Marencia updates the payment status and emails the customer a payment confirmation. The booking status stays as it is: whether a paid booking is confirmed remains your team's decision.
- Card payment on the customer's booking page
- Money goes directly to your Stripe account

Connect your own Stripe account in three steps.
A one-time setup under Settings → Payments. You need your own Stripe account; Marencia checks every key with Stripe before it saves anything.
-
Add your Stripe key
Paste a secret key, ideally a restricted key limited to checkout and charges, and test the connection. Once saved, the key is never shown again, only its last four characters.
-
Add the webhook in Stripe
Marencia shows a webhook address that belongs to your account alone. Add it in your Stripe dashboard for the checkout.session.completed event.
-
Paste the signing secret
Copy the signing secret from Stripe back into Marencia. From now on, payments are confirmed by Stripe itself, not by a customer returning to the page.
Start with a Stripe test key if you like: Marencia marks test mode clearly, and no real money moves until you switch to your live key. In a demo, we walk you through this setup.
What Marencia does with payments, and what it does not.
Short answers to the questions operators ask us most about money and bookings.
Does Marencia take a commission on payments?
No. Card payments go directly to your own Stripe account, and Marencia takes 0 % per booking. Stripe's own fees apply to your account as usual.
Does a card payment confirm the booking automatically?
No. A card payment updates the payment status, for example to "fully paid", and sends the customer a payment confirmation. Confirming the booking is a separate step your team takes, so a paid booking never slips past a check you want to make.
What about cash and bank transfers?
Your team records them in the booking: method, status and whether the down payment is paid. The customer can see your bank details on their booking page. For payments recorded by hand, no confirmation email is sent automatically.
Can I remind a customer to pay?
Yes. From the booking or from the payment overview, your team can send a payment request email with one click. Marencia does not send payment reminders on its own.
How are refunds handled?
When a booking is cancelled, your team notes the refund details and sets the payment status to "refund". The refund itself is made by you, for example in your Stripe dashboard; Marencia does not issue refunds automatically.
What happens if the price of a booking changes?
The remaining balance is recalculated. A checkout link that is still open becomes invalid, so the customer cannot pay the old amount, and if the booking is already confirmed, the customer can receive an email about the change.
Which currencies and payment providers are supported?
Each operator works in one currency, such as EUR, USD, BRL or MXN. Card payments run through Stripe today; other providers are not connected yet.
Does Marencia create invoices?
No. Marencia tracks what is due and what has been paid, but it does not issue invoices or export to accounting software.
